• We organise  social paddles and competitive races at great prices, right on your doorstep, that are designed to get you ready for bigger and longer multisport and adventure races

• Our regular newsletter is packed with info on local multisport & adventure racing events and includes a race calendar so you can plan your adventure year

 

• All races have a focus on the social aspect of the sport and we get together for coffee & kai after each race where tales are told & arch rivals become best mates
   

• Get cheaper entry to club events (get your membership fee back in just a couple of events)
   

• SLMC is Canoe Racing NZ affiliated, so you get a big discount on your Further Faster Waimak Classic entry fee - the ultimate build up race for the kayak portion of the Kathmandu Coast to Coast
   

• Weekly training paddle groups with technique focused coaches and a bunch of other multisport paddlers based at 3 locations in the Southern Lakes - Lake Hayes, Lake Dunstan and Lake Wanaka. Feel free to join the closest group by clicking the relevant link. Great for meeting river paddling buddies too!

• Club members can book their grade 2 river kayaking certifications through Bill Godsall on 021 442 626 or spud.billgodsall@xtra.co.nz (essential for most races involving kayaking & for any club river paddling missions)
   

• The Club owns some kayaks that can be hired out to members or those who want to try out kayaking for the first time - for information and hire fees, contact Richard on randrshields@gmail.com

• Summer only Try, Learn, Explore courses for new paddlers
   

• We have 8 Nelo surf ski boats and will be running member only surf ski "have a go" days for those curious about this epic sport to compliment and improve your multisport paddling. FUN FACT: 2025's fastest male paddle time went to a surf ski paddler and 2024's fastest female paddle time went to a surf ski paddler.
